Detached Breakwater

Detached breakwater1
Detached breakwater evolution

Beach morphology evolution for the detached breakwater experiment: contourlines (a) before groin deployment, (b) 2-hours after deployment, (b) 24-hours after deployment, before structure removal, and (d) 2-hours after groin removal. (From Roca-Barceló, 2016).

Permeable Groin

Permeable groin1
Permeable groin evolution

Beach morphology evolution for the Permeable groin experiment: countorlines (a) before groin deployment, (b) 24-hours after deployment, and (c) 24-hours after groin removal. The permeable groin induced an increase of 40 m3 at the updrift side of the structure. Bech recovers during the subsequent sea breeze event.

Impermeable Groin

Impermeable groin
Impermeable groin evolution

Beach morphology evolution for the Impermeable groin experiment: contourlines (a) before groin deployment, (b) 24-hours after deployment, (c) 24-hours after groin removal, and (d) 124-hours after groin removal. Beach morphology presents a low resistance to the impermeable structure with a significant sediment impoundment of 70 m3. Bech recovers after the subsequent sea breeze events.
