El siguiente trabajo tendrá como objetivo proponer y analizar el desempeño de un dispositivo de generación de energía undimotriz. Proponer las dimensiones de eficiencia mediante la experimentación física. Y determinar si el dispositivo puede ser una herramienta utilizable en cualquier tipo de condiciones marítimas como conversor de energía renovable.
This work was carried out by Miguel Domínguez Sandoval, as part of his masters degree thesis "Analysis of performance of Oscillating water column device for wave energy conversion". The main goal of the investigation was to build and test an experimental prototype, in order to assess its performance using a wave flume at the laboratory (Laboratory of Coastal Processes and Engineering LIPC), as well as to determine the basic design parameters for a full scale prototype according to selected wave climate site.
The device has two air chambers completely submerged (below the surface waves) with different cross-sections, partially filled with air. Both chambers are connected through a pipe near the top, which is filled with air (above the water level); the differential pressure force caused by the wave passing above the chambers results in a flow of air through the pipe, which in turn drives a wind turbine, generating power.
